Keypoint is delighted to announce that Andrea Beatty has joined the firm from K&L Gates, where she was a partner in the Financial Services team.   Andrea was also formerly with Mallesons Stephen Jaques, where she was a partner for over 10 years.   

Andrea is considered one of Australia’s leading financial services regulatory lawyers.  She is recognised in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2016, and has been listed in Australia’s ‘Best Lawyers’ every year for the past 6 years.  Andrea has written widely in her areas of expertise, including five editions of the authoritative consumer law text ‘Annotated National Credit Code’, published by Lexis Nexis.   

Andrea advises large corporates, financial institutions, financial services providers, and new fintech companies on financial products regulation, licensing and compliance, consumer credit, banking and payment systems regulation, e-commerce, margin lending, finance and mortgage broking, anti-money laundering laws, privacy and spam regulation, personal property and securities law, consumer protection, regulatory breaches, critical incident management, and dealing with regulators, including  APRA, ASIC, the RBA, and AUSTRAC.

Andrea also advises on associated commercial transactions including new product development, fintech developments, electronic banking, peer to peer lending, crowd funding, digital currencies, loyalty programs, payment systems, outsourcing, white labelling, alliances, restructures, acquisitions and disposals.

  • Advising financial services institutions on the full spectrum of regulatory implications for new banking products – including unfair contract terms projects 
  • Advising on the establishment of peer to peer lending arrangements
  • Advising on the establishment of various payment systems, including BPAY, digital currencies, and small value consumer to consumer payments
  • Advising on due diligence for sales of regulated financial services businesses, and
  • Advising on numerous ASIC regulatory investigations. 

Andrea is also a regular keynote speaker at many of the leading legal conferences, including Legalwise credit seminars and the Informa (formerly LexisNexis) Annual Credit Law conferences.
